Your doctor reviews your current treatment, your condition, any side effects, and changes to your health since your last review. They advise on whether your treatment remains appropriate and issue an electronic prescription where clinically indicated. Prescription renewal is not automatic.
This service is appropriate when your condition is stable and your treatment is established. If your symptoms have changed significantly, worsened, or you have new concerns since your last review, a General Medical Consultation is more appropriate.

Electronic prescription: where clinically appropriate. When your doctor determines that your treatment remains clinically appropriate, an electronic prescription is issued through the Romanian Electronic Prescription System (SIPE). You present this at any pharmacy of your choice in Romania. For foreign citizens without a Romanian CNP, your passport number is used: no Romanian health insurance required for a private prescription.
Note: Special-regime prescriptions, covering certain controlled and high-risk medications, cannot be transmitted electronically under Romanian law. Your doctor advises if this applies to your medication.
Referral or further investigation: where needed. If your review indicates that further assessment, blood tests, or specialist input is needed before treatment can be continued, your doctor advises clearly and coordinates the appropriate next steps on the same day.

Prescriptions in Romania: What You Need to Know
Romania uses an electronic prescription system (SIPE: Sistemul Informatic de Prescripție Electronică). When your doctor issues a prescription through SIPE, you receive it electronically and present it at any pharmacy in Romania.
For patients without Romanian public health insurance, prescriptions are dispensed at full private cost. For patients with Romanian public health insurance (asigurare de sănătate), reimbursed medications are dispensed with the applicable co-payment, though reimbursement applies only to prescriptions issued by doctors contracted with the public system. Private prescriptions issued through Global Health are dispensed at full private cost regardless of insurance status.
For foreign citizens without a Romanian CNP, your passport number is used on the prescription. This is fully accepted at Romanian pharmacies for private prescriptions.
Treatment Renewal Without a Registered Family Doctor
Renewing stable medication can be difficult without a registered family doctor in Romania. This affects people moving between practices, recent arrivals and international residents. Finding a clinic and discussing treatment in a less familiar language can add to the difficulty.
Our service removes this friction. A CMR-registered doctor reviews your treatment by video call and issues an electronic prescription where clinically appropriate, same day, from anywhere in Romania, in English or Romanian.
