What Your Consultation Includes
Full clinical assessment. Your doctor takes a complete history of your symptoms, relevant medical background, and current medications, and conducts a structured clinical assessment by video, to the same standard as an in-person consultation.
Clear explanation in plain English. You leave your consultation knowing exactly what is happening, what to do next, and when to seek further care. Our doctors take time to answer your questions. No rushed appointment, no language barrier.
Electronic prescription: where clinically appropriate. When clinically indicated, your doctor issues an electronic prescription validated in the Romanian Electronic Prescription System (SIPE). You present this at any pharmacy of your choice in Romania. For foreign citizens without a Romanian CNP, your passport number is used: no Romanian health insurance required.
Antibiotic prescription, where clinically indicated. Since 2024, all antibiotics in Romania require a doctor's prescription. Your doctor assesses your symptoms and prescribes the appropriate antibiotic where clinically justified, including for urinary tract infections, respiratory infections, and skin infections.
Referral letters and medical documentation. When specialist referral, blood tests, imaging, or other clinical documentation is needed, your doctor issues this on the same day.
A Note on Healthcare in Romania for Expats
Romania's public health system is structurally sound but access as a foreigner involves several practical challenges:
Registration: Access to the Romanian public health system requires registration with a family doctor (medic de familie) and enrolment with a health insurance fund. This takes time and requires documentation.
Language: While many private clinic doctors in Bucharest speak English, English-speaking primary care is rare outside the capital, and conducting a meaningful medical consultation in a language you do not speak well is genuinely difficult.
Geography: English-language private clinics are concentrated in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Timișoara. For expats and international residents elsewhere in Romania, access is significantly more difficult.
