About Dr Arooj
Dr Arooj Iqbal Lodhi has spent the last three years as a senior house officer in general internal medicine at South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel, running ward rounds with the consultant team and following up patients in outpatient clinics, both face to face and by video. That hospital medicine sits on top of roughly five years of general practice and a long-standing focus on skin.
After qualifying in medicine (MBBS) from Riphah International University in Islamabad, Dr Lodhi rotated through gynaecology and obstetrics, psychiatry, general medicine and ophthalmic surgery, then completed two years of MCPS postgraduate training in dermatology at Military Hospital Rawalpindi, managing inpatient and outpatient skin disease and performing minor dermatological procedures. FAQs
Can I get eczema treatment through an online consultation?
Yes. Eczema can usually be assessed well from photos and your history. Dr Lodhi, who holds an RCPI Diploma in Dermatology, explains triggers and skincare, recommends emollients and, where appropriate, prescribes treatment such as steroid creams. Infected or rapidly spreading eczema may need to be seen in person.
How is psoriasis treated, and can it be managed online?
Mild to moderate psoriasis is usually treated with creams and ointments, and many reviews can be done online. If the psoriasis is widespread, affects joints or is not responding, Dr Lodhi arranges referral for phototherapy or systemic treatment with a consultant dermatologist.
Can I get contraception advice online in Ireland?
Yes. Dr Lodhi reviews your history, blood pressure and preferences and explains the options, from the pill to long-acting methods. A prescription can be issued where appropriate; a coil or implant is fitted in a clinic.
What can be done about hair loss?
Hair loss has several causes, including stress, iron or thyroid problems, hormones and inherited thinning. The consultation looks at the pattern and history, suggests blood tests and explains treatment options and when a specialist referral makes sense.
